The output of synthetic diamond and cubic boron nitride in Henan Province accounts for 80 percent and 95 percent of the national total, respectively. There are a number of leading enterprises in the industry, such as Sanmo Institute, Yellow River Whirlwind, Zhongnan Diamond, Zhengzhou Huajing, Funnike, Sifang Da, as well as professional scientific research institutes and universities.

Although the superhard material industry in Henan Province has a good foundation and obvious advantages, compared with the international advanced level, there are still shortcomings such as the backward development of products and composite materials, the lack of competitive advantage of high-quality products, the low degree of industrial concentration, and the lack of high-end talents.
